Tom Beldam travels the world capturing stunning wildlife and natural history, from camping in Antartica to filming octopuses in Australia. He works for a host of high profile clients, ranging from the BBC to Disney.

Designing and building a bespoke website is another way of helping Tom stand out from others, giving his work the best platform.
For an image based portfolio, text is an important tool to add texture and context. Echoing the terrain that’s often featured in Tom’s work, layouts use confident, ngged typography.
Building a bespoke portfolio
We designed and built a custom website for Tom, creating a branded experience that distances his portfolio from run-of-the-mill theme sites. For potential clients, discoverability and intuitive browsing is key. Tom’s work is clearly presented, with further content providing context around the projects.
A FLUID EXPERIENCE
Tom's website is designed and built responsively, giving the user an intuitive and frictionless experience on all devices. Moving between sections and categories is fluid, making discovery natural.
Part of building a memorable experience is integrating the brand with the UI. It's these little touches in the periphery that stop it being yet another portfolio, and make it ownable for Tom.
A SENSE OF PLACE
Tom is always on location, all around the world. We put this at the heart of the identity and portfolio, showing clients not only where his projects are based, but where he is right now.
PRIVATE CLIENT ACCESS
We built a password protected area of the site to allow Tom to share confidential videos and images with clients. With features like custom messages and download options, it's a powerful solution that gives a more memorable and professional impression than just sharing a Dropbox link.
Animating the transitions of elements like the site menu reinforces the linear structure of the identity, and creates a distinctive and memorable user experience. It's also engaging, adding depth and movement across the site.
The Journal is a place for users to explore behind the scenes and discover Tom's inspirations. This interactive split screen is a playful departure from the main portfolio structure.
Attention to detail
Printed materials have been designed to compliment Tom’s philosophy, using processes and materials that underpin the attention to detail and quality within his rich portfolio. Business cards are litho printed on triplex 700gsm Colorplan, with hand painted edges.
